Michael Flood is currently the Vice President of Services for IBM’s Distribution Sector Americas Group. His primary responsibility is working with firms to design and execute optimized shared services capabilities across their back-office operations space (F&A, HR, IT, Procurement, Supply Chain and CRM). He is also responsible for overseeing IBM’s regional operations in the S. Ohio and N. Kentucky regional market. Over his 25 year history with IBM, Michael has worked in roles of increasing responsibility across multiple geographies, functions and brands.

CAS Scholarships Top Science Fair Awards

James Grizzle, a senior in Information Technology, was featured in the CAS Scholarships Top Science Fair Awards article in University of Cincinnati News. According to the article, "for UC’s fifth-annual Science & Engineering Expo, CAS is offering five $5,000 scholarships — the largest donation by any one sponsor. Their support has raised the total sponsorships for 2009 to more than $73,000 in awards and scholarships, an increase of almost 50% over 2008." Read the article here.

50 Years of Computing at UC

The College of Applied Science is hosting the '50 Years of Computing at UC' on Nov 10-11. Anthony Ricciardi, the college's rep from the UC Foundation, has donated money to allow students to attend either the Tuesday day event at CAS or the Tuesday evening event at the Cincinnati Observatory Center. Right now we can accommodate a total of 30 students for the Tues, Nov 11, day event, more if some students want to attend only the Tuesday evening event at the Observatory. The conference is on Veteran's day and UC will be closed. Please contact Prof Russ McMahon (russ.mcmahon@uc.edu) if you interested and indicate whether you would like to attend the Tues day event at CAS or the evening event at the Observatory or both events (I will allow you to attend both if we don't get enough takers). Conference for Information Technology Education

The 8th Annual Conference for Information Technology Education well be held in Cincinnati October 16 - 18, 2008 at the Millennium Hotel in downtown Cincinnati.  Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group for Information Technology Education, ACM-SIGITE, and the Department of Information Technology at the College of Applied Science will be hosting the conference.  Read the full article here.

One of Our Students Won the First UC Mobile Student Application Development Competition

Brandon Slaby, an Information Technology student at the College of Applied Science, trumped teams of students from other UC colleges to win a Mobile Application Development Competition.  His application allows UC Mobile users to keep tabs on events and information across a wide number of categories.  Read more here.
